Howdy, I'm Melissa!

I love baking & want each of my bakes to bring joy to others. I'm happiest in my little kitchen & it is my absolute pleasure to bake for you!

 

I primarily bake with sourdough & my starter is a family heirloom. Some of my fondest memories involve Papa's sourdough pancakes and my family knows baked goods are best when shared with others. I started baking my own bread when my growing boys began to eat a ridiculous amount & put my love for baking to work! As I learned more about the health benefits of sourdough and enjoyed the taste of REAL fresh breads & bakes I had to share with others -- Boy Howdy Bakehouse is a hobby turned business & I hope to continue to learn and improve as a baker while bringing better health and REAL bread to my community.

With 3 boys who love bread, a God-given passion for baking, and a lot of encouragement from my husband, friends & family; I applied for my Cottage License in 2023. Once my home kitchen was inspected & approved, my first official loaf was sold in February 2024!

​

I'm constantly improving this craft & grateful for the customers & friends who support my business.​ I use organic & locally sourced flour from Fairhaven Mill (Skagit Valley) & source other ingredients locally whenever possible. If I wouldn't feed it to my boys, it won't end up in your bakes! Ultimately, I want to be a source of delight in my neighborhood and provide good carbs to all. I want to be a joy-giver in a world that needs cheer, and what better way then to bake breads & treats that can be shared with neighbors?

I am incredibly grateful for those who choose to purchase fresh bread from a random front porch in the community & more so for those who return week after week! I hope to slowly grow this hobby turned business & am so excited to have you along for the ride - thank you for checking out your local bread lady, I can't wait to bake for you!

How to Order: 

Boy Howdy Bakehouse runs on preorders. The standard ordering menu opens Friday at 10am & closes Tuesday. Thursday is your fresh bread pick up day! Special requests & custom orders are always welcome.
